The First Peoples Principles of Learning is a document that I have hanging in my current workspace in my home and that I will have in my classroom in the future. These principles are deeply important to incorporate into teaching practice. It is imperative that we acknowledge and honour all ways of knowing and being and the First Peoples Principles of Learning gives us a framework to be able to do that. The Principles are straightforward and simple to use – there is an ease to using them that lends itself to every lesson that I have developed so far. Being on the traditional lands of the T’Kemlups te Secwepémc, I understand the importance of including the FPPL in my daily practice.
